My birthday came and pass without anything real special. My bro gave me a media card reader I needed and my parents gave me the traditional shirt and tie and a benjamin (Yes, a BENJAMIN). They say spend it so I have to think of something to spend it on...

EAGLE COH UPDATE:
In my SPAM folder, I found a reply from Mayor Janet Lockhart saying she'll be attending my Eagle court. Man, glad I found that one in the trash! That's one more slash for my count of reasons to hate AOL.

GOOD 'OL FAMILY VALUES

1.27.2004

9:56 PM

The Dublin City Council has approved for a go-ahead to build a Hooter's restaurant at the corner of Dublin Blvd. and San Ramon Valley Blvd, down the street from MY HOUSE, down the street from MY SCHOOL, the first thing people will see coming OFF THE FREEWAY. I'm totally against it and my mom is also rallying support to stop it from happening. Read more at: http://www.trivalleyherald.com/Stories/0,1413,86~10669~1904892,00.html

I say in the paraphrased words of ex-Raider Bill Callahan:

"We have got to be the dumbest (city) in America, in terms of our (family values)."

It's absolutely stupid. Someone create and sign a petition before I puke...

UPDATE: Sorry about the italics, forgot the closing tag. a bit rusty on my HTML =)

DIGITAL TORMENT

1.26.2004

12:16 AM

Last week: An IM from a SN IAm(firstname-lastname) (my full name withheld for privacy reasons). Claims to be 13 from Chicago. Says he found me off Google. It's all BS since my full name and SN never show up there or anywhere. I chat, he sounds like a fake, goes away. 1 minute later, an IM from (firstname-lastname)IsSexy saying i've been pwoned. Most likely same person. Warned then blocked.

Tonight: IAm(firstname-lastname) IM's me again. It's 3 in the morning in Chicago, on a SCHOOL NIGHT. He says he's chatting with his friends. Claims he doesn't know what the heck i'm talking about when I say WHO ARE YOU? Knows l33t but doesn't have a clue about IP addresses. Being really suspicious and annoyed at this guy's satisfaction at pissing me off, I tell him I got his IP and will track him down (which I will). He leaves. 30 seconds later: SN God blessed Son IM's me. Says Yo. I'm suspicious this is the same guy but not sure. He IM's in the same manner as the first time.

IF YOU KNOW WHO'S DOING THIS, TELL ME.

IF YOU ARE DOING THIS I SWEAR I WILL TRACK YOU DOWN AND RENDER YOUR COMPUTER PERMANENTLY USELESS UNLESS YOU CONFESS!!!

FINALS, DAY 1

1.21.2004

9:02 AM

Briefly, Physics final was pretty good, only 2 problems I was really unsure of. Because of the low number of problems, I anticipate at least a B+ (which is only missing 3).

APUSH was bad. I did my best though. As long as I missed no more than 20, I think i'll have a B, which is hopeful. The darn test itself was 167 questions plus 10 short answer, so at least I can afford to miss a few more.

Right now I'm sitting at home in my PJ's because I'm TA 2nd period and I don't have to be in school. School starts at 9:55 for me and all I have is weights, which is some sort've field trip i think. Not a bad deal if I say so myself.

WEBLOGGING - THE NEW ONLINE TREND

1.13.2004

5:46 PM

LiveJournal decided to join the bandwagon and cut that stuff about "free" LJ's if you get an invite code. It's totally free now so I obviously signed up for one. It sucks though, just like Xanga and AOL journals. You can't make your own totally custom template. Yeah, you say you like xanga because it offers tagboards and comments. I can incorporate that all into my template easily. And all the Xangas seem the same: a heading and subheading at top, user info, blogroller, and blogrings on the left, posts in the center, and tagboards on the right. AOL Journals is just plain boring. Only thing i don't like about Blogger is that you can't host pics. No problem, I'm glad AOL allows linked pictures...=)

UPDATES 2 & 3

1.07.2004

8:07 PM

5:30 - We officially have Comcast Digital Cable with HDTV. Picture quality is awesome, except mom is pissed that Comcast screwed up our setup and now she can't watch VHS tapes properly, and Dad is pissed that Comcast screwed up our setup and now HDTV is on Colorstream HD2 and that his home theater nearly got messed up (mostly resolved now)

6:00 - My condolences to the Ma family, etc. especially the Wong family on the loss of Mr. Ma. It was always a joy to see him and have him join us on our Tahoe trips.

MACWORLD REPORT

Just got back from Macworld in SF, so here's my thoughts.

First, to set to tone, I'm not a Mac hater. In fact, the only thing holding me back from buying Apple is my lack of income. I'm more of an ABM type of guy (anyone but Microsoft). Although, some of the other guys in the club had shirts for today saying:

"Mac Haters"

"Macworld 2004"

"AERODYNAMIC [insert picture of iMac] - for throwing out a 4-story window!"

So I go to Macworld, get there about 1/2 hour early and hang out. There was a ton of neat toys there. Got some free stuff like posters, CD's, cheer sticks, toothpaste rollers, the usual. I also used my Macworld card to enter into multiple drawings for iPod's and stuff. That's really my biggest hope for FREE stuff. I was hoping to get at least a free t-shirt too, in fact I sat through a whole hour Macromedia presentation hoping to get one, but the guy didn't throw stuff out at me. Mr. Raasch said that this show was unfortunately slow. I agree, but that's just because I didn't get enough free stuff. He said a few years back, everyone got free stuff for sitting in the presentations, free mice and keyboards and Adobe software. I guess the tech economy is still quite horrible. Apple 1984 commercial poster anyone?

UPDATE: Oh, I almost forgot. I finally got my clear clue faceplate and flashing blue antenna. Looks hecka cool!

NEW STUFF COMING

1.05.2004

5:59 PM

I FINALLY received notifications that both my faceplates and blinking antennas for my phone is FINALLY being shipped. Bad thing is they shipped it via USPS, so it'll be coming in the regular mail no later than NEXT WEDNESDAY! and tracking is only updated once a day!

On a happier note, MacWorld is in 2 days. I'm hoping to get lots of cool little keychains and yo-yo's and other stuff. I've also got "fake" business cards printed out so I can enter myself in all the drawings. Hope I win so wish me luck!

DREAMS AND INSPIRATION

1.03.2004

7:42 PM

I had an interesting dream last night. I dreampt (sp?) that I was back for another exciting year of CBM Camp, but it wasn't held at the dusty settlement of Mt. Hope. Instead of dirt and conifers, there were beaches, warm sunshine, palm trees, and wooden promenades, like I was in Tahiti or something. Problem was, when all the campers congregated, I didn't know any of them! Some I recognized and knew only by association, but I felt...alone. Scary thought, but this next tidbit goes strangely along with it.

I was bored just now and decided to do some random searches on Google (ya know, like searching for your name and stuff). I searched for "CBM Camp" and found a variety of things, some people's blogs, my own blog, my cabinmate Ariel's blog, and lastly, my first CBM Camp counselor's blog, "Tank" Lau. I hadn't heard from him in a while, so I decided to take a look. What my eyes first saw as I scanned the blue page were the words "Goodbye", "This is it. I'm leaving". A rush of concern went through me as I continued to read the post.

It seems that Sam is leaving indefinitely for Eastern Europe, going to countries like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. I don't know the exact reason, but knowing Sam, sounds like God is leading him to be a missionary there. A sense of sadness came over me as I read about his anxieties before the trip, his final post, knowing that I may never greet him at CBM camp again, possibly never see him until we're all reunited. But I know that God has a purpose and a reason for everything and that He will do great things in Europe because of Sam. Pray for him, that God would grant him safety and that he would cause a great revival in these Christ-needing countries.

I'm going to send an email off to him right now. Hopefully he'll reply back and give me the scoop. I'll post the details when that happens.

WELCOME 2004

Wow, can you believe the last time I posted was LAST YEAR!? =) Anyways, I haven't had much to post about so I didn't. Let's just say it's been a pretty relaxing break. For Christmas, all I really got were Best Buy giftcards, but it's all good! My parents gave me a jacket and a new TV, and my bro gave me some DVD+RW's and a wireless mouse, so you can say i've received a lot of technology gadgets. Also saw two movies over the break: Last Samurai, which was awesome, and LOTR (2 times), also awesome.

Don't want to post about other random news, since it's boring and there isn't much.

So now that 2003 is officially behind us and there are 27 more days until my 17th birthday, 524 more days until graduation, and 363 days until 2005 (leap year this year i hear), it's a good time to consider what happened in 2003 and what I'd like to happen in 2004
